Monsal Headstone Viaduct - FURTHER INFORMATION

Monsal Headstone Viaduct - Peak District visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Monsal Headstone Viaduct' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Derbyshire.

This panorama shows the view from the top of the Headstone Viaduct in the Peak District in Derbyshire, England. Headstone Viaduct is often called the 'Monsal Viaduct' or 'Monsal Dale Viaduct'. It was built in 1863 taking a rail road across the River Wye. It is 91m long with five 15m span arches.

Headstone Viaduct is now a part of the Monsal Trail, an 8.5 mile cycling and walking trail which mostly follows the River Wye valley from Wye Dale in the north-west to Coombs viaduct, a point about 1 mile (1.6 km) south-east of Bakewell.

A great viaduct for abseiling, especially with the 75ft free hang below the arches. I remember doing it once in the pouring rain during the Christmas break.
