All Saints Church in Bakewell was built during Anglo-Saxon times and then rebuilt by the Normans in the 12th Century. The church has become a tourist attraction in Bakewell for several reasons. Within the churchyard is probably the largest collection of stone Saxon crosses on earth, dating from the 8C. The church also has an unusual octagonal church spire built in the shape of a crucifix, unlike many other churches in the Peak District whose octagonal spires have equal sides.
