Burbage Valley - FURTHER INFORMATION
Burbage Valley - Peak District visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Burbage Valley' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Derbyshire.
Burbage Valley lies on the eastern side of the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire, England. The valley is very popular for walking, climbing and general outdoor pursuits and for school trips.
Burbage Valley is surrounded by scarps or edges of gritstone, which make for excellent climbing. On the east is Burbage Rocks, with Higger Tor and Carl Wark to the west. The area has seen human occupation since the Bronze Age (1500 BC), and on Carl Wark are numerous cairns and Iron Age defensive structures.
Burbage Brook flows down the valley, originating in moorland north of the valley. Between 1968 and 1971 an 83 acre plantation of Scots Pine, Japanese Larch and Lodgepole Pine was planted within Burbage Valley.
