Linacre Reservoir - FURTHER INFORMATION

Linacre Reservoir - Chesterfield visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Linacre Reservoir' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Derbyshire.

The Linacre Reservoirs lie about 4 miles from Chesterfield in Derbyshire, England, close to Cutthorpe on the eastern side of the Peak District. There are 3 reservoirs here, called the Upper, Middle and Lower Linacre Reservoirs. This panorama shows a view over the Middle Reservoir.

Together these reservoirs cover about 5.4 km² with a total capacity of about 572,000m³. They are separated by earth and clay dams as a cascade down the valley. The oldest is Lower Linacre Reservoir, built in 1854. Upper Linacre Reservoir was built in 1864 and Middle Linacre was built in 1911.

Today the visitor car park is built over the site of Linacre Hall. As well as supplying some of the local water, the reservoirs are also good wildlife sanctuaries and popular for walking and bird watching.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
