Christ Church, East Stour - FURTHER INFORMATION
Christ Church, East Stour - Shaftesbury visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Christ Church, East Stour' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Dorset.
Christ Church in East Stour is one of the Benefice of Stour churches, a group of 8 churches that covers Buckhorn Weston, East Stour, Fifehead Magdalen, Kington Magna, Stour Provost, Stour Row, Todber and West Stour, a collection of small settlements between Shaftesbury and Sherborne in Dorset.
The current Christ Church dates from 1842, built in Norman style, and therefore not a very old church by English standards. However, inside is the 12th century font, and a fine 18th century wood-carving of a pelican (re-used as a lectern) from an earlier church on site.
