Bathurst - FURTHER INFORMATION

Bathurst - Bathurst visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Bathurst' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from New South Wales.

Bathurst is about 200km from Sydney on the banks of the Macquarie River in the Central Tablelands Region of New South Wales, Australia. The town is best known for the Mount Panorama Racing Circuit.

The area around Bathurst was originally occupied by the Wiradjuri Aboriginal peoples, and the first Europeans settled here in about 1815, naming the town after the British Colonial Secretary Lord Bathurst. Early settlement was openly and violently opposed by the Aboriginals until conflict ceased in 1820.

Aside from Mount Panorama, other local attractions to Bathurst include Bathurst Goldfields, Abercrombie Caves, Australian Fossil & Mineral Museum, Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre, Bathurst Sheep & Cattle Drome, Bathurst Regional Council Vistor Information, Hill End, Miss Traill's House & Garden, National Motor Racing Museum and the Turon Technology Museum.
