Trajan's Forum (Forum Traiani) lies next to and the Monument to Vittorio Emanuele II in Rome. As the name suggests, this forum was built by Emperor Trajan, using spoils from the conquest of Dacia. It opened in 112 and the associated Trajan's Column depicting his victories, shown in this image, was completed in 113.
Construction of Trajan's Forum was a huge task, requiring excavation of parts of the Quirinal and Capitoline (Campidoglio) Hills. The remains of the forum lie next to the Roman Forum, close to the Colosseo (Colosseum).
