Santa Sabina Church - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken inside the church of Santa Sabina in Rome. A striking feature about this church was the lack of pews and the mosaic on the floor.

Rome virtual tour with a 360° panorama of 'Santa Sabina Church' linked to a Google map. A Rome attractions travel guide.
The church of Santa Sabina stands next to Santi Bonifacio e Alessio on the top of the Aventine Hill in Rome. It was built in 422 AD and is often considered to be among the best examples of an early Christian church in Rome, though today is off the normal tourist route and little visited. The wooden doors of the church date from the 5C and contain carved biblical scenes.
Inside is a spacious nave, shown in this picture, with 24 columns of Proconnesian marble, reused from the Temple of Juno. In the apse is a 16C fresco and some traces of early 5th-century fresco can still be seen around the church. The floor of the nave contains Rome's only surviving mosaic tomb, dating from around 1300. Today this is a Roman Catholic used by the Dominican order. It is open daily.
