Navua River - FURTHER INFORMATION

Navua River - Viti Levu visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Navua River' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Viti Levu.

The Navua River starts on the east slopes of Mount Gordon on Viti Levu in Fiji and then flows through tropical rain forest for about 65 miles to the Pacific Ocean. The small village of Navua is near the mouth of the Navua River.

The Navua River is popular with rafting and white water rafting, with trips on the Upper Navua passing through dramatic deep gorges and dense tropical forest. Rafting on the Upper Navua takes visitors through kilometers of river canyons and gorges, past countless waterfalls and through some of the most stunning scenery on the whole of Fiji.

In the lowlands, the waters of the river were tapped at Navua to supply a sugar mill built in the 1800's. This mill has now closed, though the town that grew up around it still remains. The river is used here by fishermen heading out to the Pacific in small boats.
