It is an easy 1.5 hour return from the Surprise View car park (pay and display) and also a good, 8-mile, circular walk in the area which covers some rough ground, tracks and some steep slopes.

Nearby attractions include the Fox House Inn, walks in Burbage Valley and the ancient hill fort of Carl Wark, all within walking distance of Surprise View.
