Tour by Panoramic Earth, powered by MAI Technology Ltd The resort information displayed beside the map covers the Lech & Zürs (Arlberg Ski Circus) skiing region. The 'Arlberg Ski Circus' lift pass covers the resorts of Lech, Zürs, Stuben, St. Anton, Sonnenkopf and St. Christoph. Lech and Zürs - Beautiful skiing in a beautiful locationLech is situated at an altitude of 1,450 meters (4,757 feet) in Vorarlberg region of the Alps. Lech has a strong reputation for being absolutely snow secure. The snow conditions at Lech were good even during poor years that saw lift closures at other resorts. The winter season here runs from the end of November to the end of May. This is longer skiing season than some other skiing regions and is a result of the location and snowfall. The average annual snowfall at Lech is about 250 centimeters (98 inches), and the skiing area is covered by about 130 centimeters (51 inches) of snow on average. All the slopes are below 3,000 meters (9,843 feet) but above the tree line. This contributes to the excellent snow conditions at Lech without suffering from extreme cold. On top of this, Lech has about 70 days of sunshine during the winter months which makes the resort very popular with people wishing to combine both snow and sun in mild conditions where the snow is secure. Easy Access to Ski AreaGetting to the slopes could not be easier – three lift systems ascend from the town center. One is a gondola that carries skiers all the way up to the Rüfikopf at 2,350 meters (7,710 feet). From here the resort at Lech connects to the adjacent resort Zürs. The Rüfikopf lift station is only 282 meters (929 feet) below the peak of the Rüfispitze, which is the highest mountain in the resort. The other two lifts in Lech itself head up to Oberlech, found in the center of the Lech resort. This part of the resort is secluded and calm. It is situated at 1,700 meters (5,577 feet) and from here two more lifts take skiers further up the mountains. The highest lift in the area actually lies between Zürs and Lech. This is the Madloch which finishes at 2,444 meters (8,018 feet). This lift forms the link allowing skiers to ski between the two resorts. In total, the skiable vertical drop of the Lech resort is 994 meters (3,261 feet). The resort is expnasive with providing the skier with 110 kilometers (68 miles) of slopes and 180 kilometers (112 miles) of off-piste are skiing. Prefect Slopes - Every DayThe piste personnel works night and day to ensure perfectly prepared slopes. Just in case there is a need, the Zürs-Lech resorts have installed one of the most modern snow making systems of the world. Almost 20% of the resort is covered by 28 snow cannons, enabling the resort to cover almost 15km of slopes with different types of artificial snow. For those interested, the cannons are situated on the lower parts of at the of the Schloßkopf, Madloch, Seekopf, and Hexenboden pistes. They also cover the Schlegelkopf, Hinterwies, Kriegerhorn, Steinmähder, and Petersboden pistes. |
