The area in front of San Giovanni in Laterano in Rome is known as Piazza di P.ta S. Giovanni. It contains a grassed area with paths leading up to the front of the church from Porta S. Giovanni, and views east down Viale Caro Felice which leads to the Basilica di Santa Croce in Gerusalemme. To the north is the Palazzo Leterano (Lateran Palace). Via E Filipberto runs north from here to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II.
