The Villa Giulia National Museum (Museo Nazionale di Villa Giulia) in Rome contains one of the most outstanding collections of Etruscan art and artifacts on earth. The collection is housed in a villa built in 1551 for Pope Julius III. Inside the villa is a nymphaeum (sunken sculpture garden), which is an excellent example of a refined late-Renaissance setting for princely pleasures. The museum was established in 1889 and contains finds from excavations made between the Tiber and the sea.
Other nearby attractions include the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna and Sant Eugenio Church. Also are the Museo Pietro Canonica and Galleria Borghese in Villa Borghese Park.
