Margaret Island (Margitsziget, Margit-sziget) lies in the middle of the River Danube in Budapest. The south end of the island is linked to Margit Hid, and the north to Árpád Bridge. Margit Island is mostly covered by open parkland. It contains a number of significant sights and attractions and is a popular recreational area for tourists as well as locals.
The Centennial Memorial is on the roundabout at the bottom of the entrance road to Margit Island from Margaret Bridge (Margit hid). It was built to commemorate the Centennial (100th) Anniversary of the unification of Buda and Pest to form Budapest.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Metro: M3 (Nyugati pályaudvar) then trolleybus 4, 6 down Szent István körút.
Trolleybus: 2, 2a (terminates on the Pest side of Margit hid), 4, 6 (cross the bridge)
