Cremallera Funicular Station at Montserrat - Montserrat visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Cremallera Funicular Station at Montserrat' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Catalonia.
The monastery on Montserrat is one of the most important religious sites in Spain, visited by around 2.5 million tourist each year, and the most popular tourist attraction near to Barcelona. While visiting the monastery can easily be done as a day trip, Monistrol de Montserrat offers plenty of hostel, hotel and bed and breakfast accommodation for those wishing to stay locally. The area is also popular for walking and climbing.
The Cremallera Funicular runs up Montserrat from Monistrol de Montserrat Station and is one of two ways to get to the monastery when arriving by train from Barcelona. The other is to take the Aeri de Montserrat Cable Car from the stop before Monistrol de Montserrat, which is the more expensive and faster route up. Tickets for both should be brought when buying train tickets at Plaça d'Espanya in Barcelona. Trains from Barcelona to Montserrat take about an hour.
