Panorama of Japanese Gardens on Margaret Island in Budapest. The central part to the Japanese Gardens is a small pond inhabited by terrapins with an elegant statue in the middle. The Japanese Gardens are quiet and reflective area near the north end of Margit Island.

Margaret Island (Margitsziget, Margit-sziget) in Budapest lies in the middle of the River Danube. The south end of the island is linked to Margit Hid, and the north to Árpád Bridge. Margit Island is mostly covered by open parkland. It contains a number of significant sights and attractions and is a popular recreational area for tourists visiting Budapest on holiday as well as locals.

These travel directions take you to the south entrance to Margaret Island (Margitsziget).
Metro: M3 (Nyugati pályaudvar) then trolleybus 4, 6 down Szent István körút.
Trolleybus: 2, 2a (terminates on the Pest side of Margit hid), 4, 6 (cross the bridge)
