Playa Carrillo - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Playa Carrillo is a postcard-perfect tropical beach of clean golden sand, surrounded by palm trees and rocky headlands, just south east of Sámara on the Nicoya peninsula.

The beach of Playa Carrillo is on the western shores of the Nicoya peninsula in Costa Rica, in the next bay 8km south of Sámara Beach. On the southern end of this bay is the small village of Carrillo. Playa Corillo is reported to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica, made of white coral sands, protected by off-shore coral reefs and lined with palm trees. The beach here is undeveloped, with no hotels or apartments, making it very quiet most of the year round.
Corrillo itself is a small fishing village with a few hotels, mostly used by visiting anglers. The port here shelters the fishing boats of Samara. Near the north end of a beach, over a small river in which crocodiles live, is La Selva Zoo and Restaurant. The zoo houses coatis, monkeys, porcupines, vampire bats, and other animals seldom see in the wild by most tourists.
