Sa Caixota and Port Roig - FURTHER INFORMATION
Sa Caixota and Port Roig - Ibiza visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Sa Caixota and Port Roig' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Balearic Islands.
Port Roig and Sa Caixota are on the southwest of Ibiza, between Es Jondal and Es Cubells beaches. Port Riog is popular with pleasure boats and yachts, as there is sheltered anchorage here and a small beach. The port is surrounded by large cliffs, providing good protection from the wind. The area is also known as Cala de Port Roig. Nearby are numerous holiday apartments and villas for rent overlooking the sea and a number of small hotels, like the Aparthotel Port Roig.
The beach at Sa Caixota is quite secluded due in part to the fact that access to it is either via a steep set of steps down the cliff or via boat. It is not unusual to find several yachts and boats moored in the cove, as shown in this picture. There are no amenities on the beach, so visitors must bring their own food and drink. Those that make the effort to get to Sa Caixota will find a 400m long beach lined with deep tan sand, and also covered with large rocks. The beach is south facing and has little natural shelter, so visitors should take a sun-shade. As the bay is open, the water is not as calm at other places on the island.
