Sant Mateu d'Albarca is a small hamlet on the north of Ibiza, part way between Santa Agnes de Corona and Sant Miguel de la Balensat, and north of Santa Gertrudis. As suggested by the name, the village rests in the Albarca Valley and is surrounded by hills and some of the most fertile land on Ibiza. It is made of a few houses gathered around the white-washed 14th Century church of Sant Mateu (Saint Matthew). The village celebrates the Fiesta del Vino every December when hundreds of people come from all over Ibiza to taste the wines of the island. Vineyards are dotted around the rural Buscastell area nearby. Next to the church is a good restaurant.
At other times, few people stop at Sant Mateu d'Albarca, but many pass through on their way to some popular beaches like Cala des Molto and Port de San Miguel Beach.
