The church of Sant Mateu forms the focal point of Sant Mateu d'Albarca hamlet in northern Ibiza. This is a 14th century church, with whitewashed walls both inside and out. Like most of the rural churches in Ibiza, Sant Mateu is plainly decorated with icons in the side alcoves and decoration behind the high altar. The inside of the church is refreshingly cool in the summer, and makes for a good place to reflect and cool down in the summer months. The village holds a celebration to Saint Matthew on 21st September.

Road: Sant Mateu d'Albarca is about 20km north of Eivissa (Ibiza Town). Take the PM-804 to Santa Gertrudis and then the PM-V-804-1.
