Panorama from Goleta Pier, which extends into the Pacific Ocean from Goleta Beach County Park. The beach park is south of central Goleta, east of Santa Barbara Municipal airport and University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) campus and is backed by Goleta Slough. It covers 29 acres and is open during the day. In the park are 27 picnic tables, four horseshoe pits, three restrooms, a volleyball court, a 'Windamajig' (wind-driven sculpture) and other amenities.

Goleta Beach is man made, formed in 1945 by spreading sand on an existing sand spit. It is a seasonal habitat for migrating shorebirds including the snowy plover, and is sometimes closed for conservation. Goleta Beach is also under attack from erosion and has lost an average of a lot of sand in the last 14 years.

Road: Take the 217 off Highway 101 and exit at Sandspit Road. There is free parking at Goleta Beach Park, though parking can be difficult at popular times.
