Stingray Bay is the entrance point of the Merri River with the sea at Warrnambool in Victoria, south Australia. The bay is next to Warrnambool Breakwater Pier and is a popular safe space for swimming and brown trout fishing. In the middle of the bay is Middle Island, which contains a small fairy penguin colony and can be waded out to at low tide. Stingray Bay is at the eastern end of the Mahogany Walking Track which follows the coastline for 22km to Port Fairy.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Warnambool is on the A1 near to Port Fairy and close to the beginning of the western end of the Great Ocean Road. Warnambool is about 260km west of Melbourne, and 650km east of Adelaide.
