Sant Joan Gran - FURTHER INFORMATION
Sant Joan Gran - Menorca visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Sant Joan Gran' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Balearic Islands.
Sant Joan Gran church lies in the middle of countryside a short distance southeast of Ciutadella on Menorca island. The church is used for the vespers service during the Sant Joan fiesta that happens near the end of June each year in Manorca. Nearby is Poblat de Son Catlar, one of the numerous prehistoric Bronze Age sites on Menorca dating from around 2000BC.
The road south from Sant Joan Gran continues about another 5km before becoming a series of country lanes that serve a number of small and picturesque calas on the south of Menorca. These include Cala des Talajer, Cala en Turqueta, Cala Macarella and Cala Santa Galdana. The Talaia d'Artrutx is also nearby.
Most of these beaches are on private land, which have a small entrance fee in high season. Most of the car parking areas are a few minutes walk from the beach. There is a distinct lack of hotels, holiday villas or beach resorts on all these coves except Cala Santa Galdana, which is highly developed with a number of large hotels and a marina.
