St John's Church - Further Information

St John's Church in Edinburgh was built between 1816 and 1818. The church was designed by William Burn is the most notable internal feature is the fan vaulted plaster ceiling vault, which is based on King Henry VII's chapel in Westminster Abbey in London. Other notable features include the redos above the High Altar, stained glass windows, an ornate sanctuary lamp and a large highly decorated cross hanging above the nave.

St John's Church is a large Gothic building, it is open to the public and has become one of Edinburgh's tourist attractions, overlooked by Edinburgh Castle and the end of Princess Street.
