Edinburgh Tourist Information Centre - Further Information

The Edinburgh and Scotland Tourist Information Centre stands next to Waverley Railway Station in the center of Edinburgh. It provides information and maps to the sights, attractions, hotels, museums and transport links throughout the city.

As the name suggests, the center also provides information and bookings for tours and trips to other parts of Scotland as well. At peak times the center is very busy, and during Hogmany, the Edinburgh Festival and Edinburgh Tattoo it is essential to pre-book hotels.

Visiting Edinburgh

Before visiting Edinburgh, consider purchasing the Edinburgh Pass. This allows free or discounted entrance to over 30 top attractions in and around th city as well as special deals at various shops and restaurants. Pass holders also get free transfer to Edinburgh Airport, free use of the Lothian buses around the city (except night buses), a discount on Edinburgh bus tours and a 20% discount on Citylink routes across Scotland.

Access to Edinburgh Castle, the top attraction in the city, is not covered by the Edinburgh Pass, but is covered by Historic Scotland Membership, which also allows free entrance to Craigmillar Castle as well as about 70 other paying sites in Scotland.
