St Mary's Churchyard - FURTHER INFORMATION
St Mary's Churchyard - Westerham visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'St Mary's Churchyard' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Kent.
The churchyard of St Mary's church in Westerham has been an active burial site for the town for centuries. Westerham is an old town, mentioned as 'Oistreham' in the 1086 Doomsday Book. Many of the names found in the graveyard are also found elsewhere around the town. At the bottom of the churchyard, shown in this picture, is an old cottage.
The church itself is worth visiting as within it is on of only two 14th Century wooden staircases in England that twists to the left, and the oldest example of the Royal Coat of Arms of Edward VI as well as various other items of interest.
