King's Knot - FURTHER INFORMATION

The King's Knot lies in an open field in Stirling, below Stirling Castle which can be seen on the top of the hill to the north. In about 1630 this area was planted with box trees and ornamental hedges forming part of the spectacular King's Garden. This was a formal garden surrounded by canals. Today all that remains is the series of octagonal grassy mounds and some paths through the gardens. You can get a good birds-eye view of the King's Knot from the Front Parapet of Stirling Castle. It is sometimes known locally as the Cup and Saucer.
