Stirling Castle - Three Gun Battery - FURTHER INFORMATION
Stirling Castle - Three Gun Battery - Stirling visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Stirling Castle - Three Gun Battery' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Stirlingshire.
The Three Gun Battery was installed above the remains of the Elphinstone Tower at the southeast corner of the Outer Close of Stirling Castle. The tower formed part of the castle Forework and was originally as high as the the Princes Tower, which overlooks the Bowling Green Garden at the other end of the Forework.
The three guns here provided defense to the east and south in combination with the Grand Battery and the canons on the French Spur. From here, as shown in the picture, are good views over Gowan Hill and out over the countryside around Stirling. The Wallace Monument can clearly be seen from this side of the castle.
