The beach at Praia da Barra is one of the most popular beaches around Aveiro in northern Portugal. It is an exposed beach often frequented by surfers, windsurfers and kite surfers. The seaside resort lies on the northern end of a peninsula at the mouth of the Ria de Costa Nova and Ria de Aviera lagoons. The main hotel in the area is the Barra Hotel, situated near to the beach.

At the northern is a breakwater, from which this panorama was taken, stands the green and white lighthouse guiding ships into the port. The breakwater is popular for line fishing and a great place to watch fishing boats leaving the port. Praia da Barra has a vibrant nightlife in the summer months, full of bars, clubs and restaurants.

Just north of the lagoon entrance is Sao Jacinto. This small town is only a couple of km away as the crow flies, but about 65km away by car, which much travel in a large loop around the canal basin to the bridge near Quintas do Norte.

Praia da Barra is 9km west of Aveiro on the A25.
