Loch Mealt is a fresh-water loch on the Trotternish Peninsula of Skye. It is quite small, only covering 60 acres. The loch drains into a short stream which promptly cascades over the Mealt (Kilt) Waterfall, which can be seen from Kilt Point. Uniquely among all the lochs of Scotland, Loch Mealt does not contain any brown trout. Loch Mealt contains Arctic Char, and fishing permits can be obtained from the Portree Angling Association, which controls most of the angling in the North East of the Island of Skye.
South of Loch Mealt is the hamlet of Valtos, and just to the north are Ellishadder and Elishader.
