Chelsea Old Church - FURTHER INFORMATION

Chelsea Old Church - London visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Chelsea Old Church' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Greater London.

Chelsea Old Church is a Church of England church between Battersea Bridge and Albert Bridge on the north bank of the River Thames in London, close to Battersea Park. Much of the current church dates from after WWII, as the old building suffered significant bomb damage.

It is thought that a church has stood on this site for many centuries. The building that stood here before the war was from the 12 century. The least damaged part of the church by bombing was the More Chapel, built by Sir Thomas More in 1528. A statue of Thomas More, who was beheaded by Henry VIII in 1535, stands outside the church.
