The Round Pond is on the west end of Kensington Gardens, near to Kensington Palace. The pond is popular with tourists, attracted here by the swans and other birds, and as a place to play with model boats. The pond is about 5m deep at the center and actually contains various fish, including three-spined sticklebacks, roach, gudgeon and eels.
Kesington Gardens are the westernmost part of the so-called 'green lung' in London which also covers Hyde Park, Green Park and St. Jame's Park, forming an almost continuous series of open spaces from Kensington, past Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade and Trafalgar Square near Downing Street. The parks contain numerous popular tourist attractions.
