The Cathedral of Santa Eulalia is the seat of the Archbishop of Barcelona. It was built during the 13th to 15th centuries over the site of an earlier Romanesque church in memory of Eulalia, a young virgin martyred for her Christian faith in Roman times.
A popular tourist attraction, visitors can ascend onto the roof for views over the city. From here the view is dominated by two 50m high octagonal clock towers and the 70 high spire. In the distance is the Castell de Montjuïc set high on the hill of Montjuïc to the west.
