The Romanesque monastery of San Miguel stands at the eastern end of the Poble Espanyol (Spanish Village) attraction in Barcelona. All the buildings of the Poble Espanyol are taken from the different architectural styles found around Spain, forming an open air, architectural museum. The Romanesque monastery is built in the style of 10th - 12th century churches of Catalonia. Inside the church are some of the best known examples of frescoes in the style of this period, and the church is one of the most popular wedding venues in Barcelona.
This picture shows a view over eastern Barcelona from the terrace on Montjuic outside the monastery. Poble Espanyol is full of artisan workshops and restaurants. Entrance is ticketed and joint tickets can for the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya nearby are available. Other attractions around Poble Espanyol are marked on the map of Barcelona.
