Mürren is a popular, year round, holiday destination. Set at about 1640m on a ledge above the Jungfrau valley among the Alps of Bernese Oberland in Switzerland, Mürren offers excellent mountain walking and climbing in the summer and great skiing in the winter. Relying a lot on tourism, Mürren has numerous guest houses and hotels to cater for visitors, with the mountains themselves providing the main attractions.
Mürren is virtually car free, providing a relaxing environment to stay with great views of Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau mountains on the opposite side of the valley. Rising behind the village a cable car opens up the skiing and walking area right to the top of the Schilthorn, and the famous, revolving Piz Gloria restaurant. Other popular mountain restaurants are dotted around the slopes with the Birg, Schilthornhütte, Allmendhubel and Schiltgradhüsi also being popular.
Summer: - Mürren offers access to over 200km of walking trails. Explore the history of mountaineering on the North Face of the Eiger along the North Face Trail and discover the regions flora on the Flower Panorama Trail. More demanding trails head off for the Sefinen valley and over the Sefinenfurgge pass into the neighbouring Kiental. Naturally, numerous companies will offer walking tours and climbing courses. Even without walking it is possible to enjoy the mountains with both the Mürren-Schilthorn Schilthornbahn Cable Car and Allmendhubel funicular giving access to the mountains above.
Winter: - In winter Mürren becomes a popular skiing resort and gateway to the Mürren-Schilthorn skiing area with 53km of ski and snowboard pistes as well as toboggan runs and a network of trails. Combined ski passes can be brought which also offer access to the Männlichen-Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwald-First ski areas with over 160km ski pistes of all levels served by a network of over 30 ski lifts. TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Car: Visitors must park outside the village, nearest parking at Stechelberg and then take the Stechelberg-Mürren cable car.
Bus: Buses run from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg on a regular basis
