The Sonnenberg is a small mountain bar and restaurant on the slopes of the mountain above Mürren and close to Allmendhubel in the Bernese Alps of Switzerland. The name literally means 'sunny mountain', and on a clear day, like the one on which this panorama was taken, it is easy to see why. From here there are great views over the Luaterbrunnen Vallye to the peaks of the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch mountains.
The Mürren-Allmendhubel funicular takes people to the top of Allmendhubel, a short walk from the Sonnenberg restaurant. During the summer the bar is on the walking route that starts in Mürren and continues up the the mountain past the Birg restaurant (2676m), ending up at the famous Piz Gloria revolving restaurant at the top of the Schilthorn.
During the skiing season, Soonenberg and the surrounding bars lies at the heart of the heart of the Mürren-Schilthorn skiing area. Both red and blue skiing runs descend from here back down to Mürren and a red run descends to the bottom of the Maulerhubel chair lift. Skiers can ski down to Schonnenberg from the top of the Schiltgrat. It also lies a black ski run down from the Piz Gloria and Birg restaurants further up the mountain.
More information about skiing in Murren can be found on this interactive Mürren Ski and Piste Map, which has resort information and more 360° panoramas taken around the area.
