The panorama looks back down the the valley to Gimmeln and over the other side are the peaks of the Eiger, Schwarzmönch and Jungfrau mountains. It is very dramatic scenery and this picture was taken during winter of 2006.

Schiltgrat is a small ridge at 2145m within the Mürren-Schilthorn ski region of the Bernese Oberland Alps of Switzerland. A mountain restaurant, the Schiltgradhüsi, is found here offering great refreshments and stunning mountain views of some of the most famous mountains in the whole of Europe.

The region is offer year-round mountain holidays. In the summer months visitors can either walk up to Schiltgrat from Mürren via Gimmeln (where there is another mountain restaurant), or take the Schiltgrat chairlift directly up from next to the Taverne restaurant on the outskirts of Mürren. Rising behind is the top of the Schilthorn famous for the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant on the top with stunning mountain views stretching as far as France.

During the winter, Schiltgrat becomes incorporated into the skiing network around Mürren, served by both the Schiltgrat Chair and the Gimmeln draglift. From the top several blue and red runs descend back down the mountain to the bottom of both these ski lifts while another blue run (20) traverses the mountain over to Sonnenberg and Suppenalp ski bars below Allmendhubel as well as connecting to black run 21.
