Blumental literally means 'flowering valley'. The valley rises above Mürren and Allmendubel in the Bernese Alps, Switzerland. In the summer the area is very popular with mountain walkers, and popular hiking paths leading further up the mountain. One ascends southwest to Schiltgrat, passing under the Schilthornbahn cable car to the Schiltgradhüsi mountain bar. Another ascends northwest to Obere Hubel and the Schilthornhütte mountain hut. From here the path continues up past the Birg Mountain Restaurant to the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant right at the top of the Schilthorn Mountain (2970m). All the way there are stunning views over the surrounding mountains.
In the winter the months Blumetal offers grat off-piste skiing and snow boarding, especially in the bowl above Allmendubel. Blue run 20 descends through Blumental to Allmendhubel. Both red and black runs lead off from this descending back down to the base station of the Schilthornbahn cable car in Mürren. As always, skiing in the Mürren-Schilthorn region is accompanied by some of the most stunning mountain views in Switzerland.
More information about skiing in Murren can be found on this interactive Mürren Ski and Piste Map, which has resort information and more 360° panoramas taken around the area.
