Skiing panorama taken near the top of the Allmendhubel funicular on the mountains above Murren in Switzerland. This picture was taken early in the day, while skiing in 2006. The sun is low over the far side of the valley, rising behind the Jungfrau and Eiger mountains. To the east is the top of the Schilthorn mountain.

Allmendhubel is at a height of about 1900m, above the village of Mürren in the Bernese Alps in Switzerland. The area is popular year round offer walking in the summer and skiing in the summer, all the time surrounded by stunning mountain scenery. Allmendhubel is easily accessed from 4563,Mürren on the Mürren-Allmendhubel funicular, and there is a restaurant near the top. A number of small houses and restaurants are scattered in the valley below.

In the summer, Allmendhubel is on the walking path which leads from Mürren to the top of the Schilthorn Mountain (2970m), via Obere Hubel (and the Schilthornhütte mountain hut at 2439m), the Birg Mountain Restaurant (2676m) before terminating at the Piz Gloria revolving restaurant at the top of the mountain. The walk takes most of a day, and the Schilthornbahn cable car then takes hikers back down to Mürren.

During the winter season, Allmendhubel is integrated into the Mürren-Schilthorn ski area. As well as the funicular, there is a small drag lift fed by blue runs, ideal for beginners. It is linked to the rest of the resort by various other ski runs and on the route of a fantastic end-of-day route which starts at the top of the Schilthorn and descends all the way down to Mürren via various black and red runs. A short red run leads down a mogul piste to the Sonnenberg mountain restaurant from here.
