Engetal Piste - Mürren-Schilthorn Skiing - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken near the top of the Engetal ski run and drag lift on the upper slopes of the Schilthorn above Murren in Switzerland. This picture was taken late in the afternoon when the sun was setting behind the mountains. There is a great view down the Lauterbrunnen valley from here and you can see the Traverse run below the ridge heading north and the peak of the Schilthorn to the west.

The Engetal drag lift is the highest drag lift on in the Mürren-Schilthorn ski area, ascending 267m to the Birg restaurant at a height of 2676m. From the top two blue runs lead back down to the bottom of the drag lift, and a long blue run, the Traverse, heads over to the top of and the Schilthornhütte. Engetal is also fed into by the black Schilthorn run which starts at the Piz Gloria at the top of the Schilthorn.
It is possible to ski all the way down to Mürren from the top of Engetal, the route traversing over to Obere Hubel and follows a red and then black run towards Allmendhubel and the Sonnenberg bar before continuing down to the village. This route also takes skiers to the bottom of the Mulerhubel chairlift. Much of this route is followed by the annual 10 mile Inferno Downhill ski race from the top of the Schilthorn to Lauterbrunnen village dropping around 2000m en route.
More information about skiing in Murren can be found on this interactive Mürren Ski and Piste Map, which has resort information and more 360° panoramas taken around the area.
