Gummi Sud Piste - Ski Kleine Scheidegg - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT

Panorama taken while skiing in Switzerland. The picture was taken very late in the afternoon making the final transit from Männlichen back to Kleine Scheidegg in order to ski back down to Wengen. The sun has sunk behind mountains and the valley is now mostly in shadow. A small band of skiers are making the same journey. The picture also shows the Gummi chairlift.

Gummi Sud Piste - Ski Kleine Scheidegg - FURTHER INFORMATION

Gummi Sud Piste - Ski Kleine Scheidegg - Jungfrau visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'Gummi Sud Piste - Ski Kleine Scheidegg' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Bernese Oberland.

Gummi Süd is a red ski run in the Kleine Scheidegg-Männlichen skiing area in Switzerland. It branches off from a series of red runs that start nat the top of the Läger Chair near the top of Männlichen and feeds into the Gummi chairlift, visible in this picture. This chairlift ascends 219m providing the only link from the slopes of the Männlichen to the lifts around Kleine Scheidegg without descending to the bottom of the mountain. Gummi also serves one of the black runs in the resort, called Gummi Nord (16).

The closure of the lifts at the end of the day allows skiers to transit over from Männlichen back to Kleine Scheidegg, from where they can either catch the mountain train from Kleine Scheidegg Station or ski all the way back down to Wengen.

The dominant mountain in this picture the Eiger (3970m), to the right of which is Mönch (4107m). The saddle linking the Mönch with Jungfrau, on which sits Jungfraujoch (the highest railway station in Europe), is hidden by the nearby hills.

See the Jungfrau Sking Map for more about skiing in the Jungfrau region, with a breakdown of the number and types of ski lifts, ski runs and connections. It also contains an interactive piste map with various 360° panoramas taken from the various skiing areas. In the summer months the area is popular for mountain hiking.
