Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park - Lava Enters Sea

Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park contains many craters and lava flows. It is one of the main tourist attractions on Hawaii Island.

Kilauea volcano has been active for over 20 years, with frequent erruptions from the Pu'u 'O'o vent on the East Rift Zone. From here lava can flow down the PKK lava tube to the top of Pulama pali then enter the sea. It is possible to drive down Chain of Craters Road until it meets the recent lava flows bury the road and then walk out over the lava to the point near to where lava enters the sea, where this panoramic image was taken.
