St. Gabriel's Mouth - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
In early times this was a favourite spot used by smugglers from the nearby village of Chideock, being the only access to the cliff top along the coast between Charmouth and Seatown. It is a natural gully formed by a small stream and is now accessible by a new flight of wooden steps linking to the coastal footpath between Charmouth and Golden Cap. The original steps were destroyed by landslides a few years' ago

St. Gabriel's Mouth and the off-shore St Gabriel's Ledge lie at the mouth of a valley on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. It is close to Golden Cap between Charmouth Beach and Seatown Beach along the Southwest Coast Path.
The beach at St Gabriel's Mouth is accessed via a flight of steps down the cliffs from Stanton St Gabriel, an ancient medieval hamlet. The beach is popular with fossil hunters, especially after landslides expose new fossils, and makes for a pleasant detour from Stonebarrow Hill to Golden Cap.
