North Street - FURTHER INFORMATION

North Street - Wareham visitor guide showing a virtual tour of 'North Street' linked to an interactive map with local and travel information. 360° panoramas from Dorset.

North Street runs straight north to south through Wareham in Dorset, a reminder that the town was laid out by the Romans. Towards the northern end is St Martin on the Wall Church, the oldest Saxon church in Dorset. The street is lined with numerous traditional shops, cafes and galleries, and has avoided chain-store creep that has blighted many towns.

At the main junction in the town North Street crosses over East Street and West Street and continues south, now called South Street, passing the Tourist Information Centre and then over the River Frome en route for Corfe Castle, one of the most popular tourist attractions in the area.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE

Train: Wareham Rail Station.
Road: Wareham is 4 miles from Corfe Castle, about 11 miles from Poole and 22miles east of Dorchester. There is a pay and display car park at the Quay.
