Wat Phra Ram (Wat Phraram) was one of the larger and more important temples in Ayutthaya. It was built in 1369 on the site of the cremation of King U-Thong under the orders of his son King Ramesuan. Wat Phra Ram has a Cambodian style phrang and is still an active site of Buddhist worship. Within the compound is an attractive lilly pond.
Wat Phra Ram is one of the more important sites in Ayutthaya and a popular tourist attraction. As such entrance is ticketed.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Wat Phraram is on Thanon Phrasisanphet in the old town of Ayutthaya, close to the Tourist Information Office.
