Wat Na Phramen (วัดหน้าพระเมรุ) used to be known as Wat Phra Merurachikaram. The temple stands on the banks of Khlong Sabua opposite the remains of the Grand Palace in Ayutthaya. The date of construction is not known, but the Ubosot is built in a very old Thai style. The Buddha image inside is decorated in full royal clothing.
Behind the main hall are some ancient chedis and in the small Wihan is an ancient Buddha image made of black stone. Wat Na Phramen is a popular attraction in Ayutthaya, entrance is ticketed.
TRAVEL DIRECTIONS AND GETTING THERE
Wat Na Phramen is on the northern banks of Khlong Sabua, follow a side road over the river from Uthong opposite the Grand Palace ruins. Zoom in on the Google map of Ayutthaya to see.
