Angle Tube station in London
was named after the pub that was located on the corner of a road near the station. It originally opened in 1901 as a terminus for a new extension from Moorgate. The original station had only one platform situated between the North- and South-bound tracks of the Northern Line. This was became a serious problem with increasing congestion and in 1993 a £70 million reconstruction of Angel Station was completed separating the two lines. The entrance to the new station is located on Islington High Street. This area has a large number of eateries, galleries and curiosity shops. This part of Islington has recently become very fashionable.
