Phillack Church - Further Information

Phillack is a small village on the outskirts of Hayle in Cornwall. It is said that the first church was built here in the 6th century, and the village was named after an Irish missionary called Felicitas. The earliest church records are a 10th century Vatican codex which refers to a Felec of Cornwall, though to have lived around the 6th century.

Phillack Church is part of the 'Godrevy Team Ministry' group which also includes the parishes of St Erth, Gwinear, St Elwyn the Martyr and Gwithian. Tough the region was rich in mining and quarrying, today the area relies a lot on the tourism industry for income, lying between Carbis Bay and Gwithian Beach, near to St. Ives Bay. Around the area are several camp sites and caravan parks. The area also has several hotels and numerous bed and breakfast and holiday cottages.
