Top of White Cliffs of Dover - PHOTOGRAPHER COMMENT
Panorama taken from the top of the White Cliffs of Dover on a sunny day in September 2009. The picture shows a view back along the cliffs towards Dover Harbour. It is a long way down, and a great spot for a picnic.

The White Cliffs of Dover are a famous natural landmark on the south coast of England, facing over the Straits of Dover to France, a mere 21 miles away. These chalk cliffs reach up to 106m in places and, for those arriving by ferry, are the first part of England that visitors see.
Much of the land along the cliffs of Dover is owned by the National Trust, who have a visitor centre and cafe near the western, harbour end by Fox Hill Down. The 'Saxon Shore Way and White Cliffs Country Trail' provides great walking along the tops of the cliffs. In the right conditions it is possible to see France over the English Channel. This trail passes South Foreland Lighthouse and continues on to St Margaret's at Cliffe.
This particular image shows a view back along the cliffs from a point above Crab Bay. The shoreline, though exposed at low tide, is not accessible from land. Kayaking and sailing along the cliffs are popular activities.
