Finsbury Park was one of the fist great parks of London to be laid out in the Victorian era. This public park covers 112 acre (45-hectare) and contains sports areas, playgrounds, pond, cafe, Mackenzie Garden and Helena Fedorowicz memorial. Sports facilities within Finsbury Park include tennis courts, basket ball courts, Bowling green used by Finsbury Park Bowls Club, American football pitch and diamonds for both softball and baseball.
Finsbury Park underwent substantial renovations with the aid of a £5 million Heritage Lottery Fund Award in 2003. During the summer months it hosts several festivals and events such as Madstock, the Fleadh, Party in the Park, Rise: London United and holds a funfair.
